A Bit of Saturday Fun.

Christmas Sugar Cookies III
Christmas Sugar Cookies IV

My little feathered companion who zoomed in on me the second i walked into the kitchen. He stayed at my feet the entire time, taking it upon himself to nibble on my toes gently every once in a while to remind me he was still there waiting for that head scratch.

Christmas Sugar Cookies

A masterpiece only my brother could pull off. He came into the kitchen, saw what i was doing and said it looks like fun and could he try doing it. He obviously hasn’t changed that much since we were kids but lucky for him i have and hence the bullying has stopped.

Christmas Sugar Cookies II

My favourites of the lot

As i decorated these festive cookies with the occasional Christmas song playing on the radio in the background, i couldn’t help but think of all affected by the Mumbai terrorist attack, especially the family and loved ones of the Singaporean killed, as well as those stuck in Bangkok. I can’t even begin to imagine what they have all been through but my heart and prayers go out to them. As the festive season approaches and the celebrations start, may we all be safe, show our families and loved ones more love, reach out to those in need and give thanks for even the little things.

  3. My girlfriends came over to my place for dinner…they just left not too long ago. After reading your post, I feel blessed to have my friends around, even though it meant putting a little extra effort to put together a simple meal for them. Your cookies look so pretty…I love the ‘stocking’ most…they would look lovely on my xmas tree and I am certain they taste delicious too :)

  4. Hello dear!
It looks like we’ve got the same cookie cutters. :) They are so beautiful and looks too good to be eaten too! ;)
Yes, I agree with you. Our hearts go to the family of victims of the terrorists attacks, especially our dear Singaporean. I’m glad the terrorists are dead, and one of them was caught.

  5. I love the stocking one too! Do your cutout cookies expand? I always get recipes that cause the cookies to expand, thus losing shape :(

I think the past month had been quite an eventful one for many; I really pray that December will pick up the pieces for everyone. My heart goes out to all those affected.

  8. Thanks, HHB! It’s times like this when there’s so much fear and senseless rage in the world that you really start counting your blessings. I find myself giving thanks for even the smallest things these days.

Hey Jane. I’ve been buying cookies cutters through this year although i never ever use them. I’m glad i finally put them to some use though that means i’ll probably ended up buying more soon. I love the christmas cookie cutters though- they’re so cute :)

Hey Zhul. My first tray of cookies spread quite a bit so i experimented with the other trays of cookies. I found that when i rolled the dough out to no more than half a centimeter thick and froze the cookies for at least an hour, they didn’t spread much at all. Yeah the world has sadly become such a angry warzone where people think nothing of taking lives to prove a point. If there’s any silver lining in the cloud, it seems to bring the world much closer whenever something as terrifying and senseless as this happens.

Thanks, snooky doodle! I love the Christmas season too though i’ve already had enough of the Christmas songs every shopping centre has started to play.

Hey babe. Oh, how sad. I almost feel like i know the family and certainly feel their loss with the huge coverage Straits Times has been doing with the Mumbai attacks. Anyway, hurry home darling!

I’m so stressed now I think the state of world affairs will tip me over the edge.. For now I shall just stare at ur cookies. They look straight from cookie craft! And perhaps ur little fren wanted some cookie crumbs? Or are ur toes tastier? :)

Disclaimer: In case anyone thinks the above is a pick up line, I’m a girl, and married.

  10. Haha! You’re too funny, Farhan :D

Speaking of Cookie Craft, it has been three, almost four, weeks now and my books from Amazon are nowhere to be seen! Are there Christmas cookies in the book? I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Anyway, all the best with the exams, Farhan! I’m sure you’ll do amazingly well with it.
